Why Masters?

I always knew I wanted to get my Master's degree. Once I started teaching business and computers at the college level, I wanted to learn more about technology and how to incorporate new technology into my classes. I found this graduate program to be just what I was looking for. Education and technology fits right into what I am teaching. I hope that the classes I take will provide me with additional information to educate my students and make learning fun. Sometimes using technology can also make teaching easier. The other reason I chose to get my master's degree right away is because I have more time right now before starting a family.

Why My Master's

I decided to get my Master's to further my education and help me become a better teacher. I also liked the idea of the pay increase and felt the time was right as my wife and I haven't started a family yet. I entered this program for a couple reasons. First, my school is going to start a 1:1 laptop program in a couple years and I wanted to make myself a more valuable teacher in the building. Second, I coach 2 sports and the idea of meeting for classes once a week or on weekends doesn't work for me so this program allows me to work on my own time and just meet my deadlines.

Why Master's?

When I first started thinking about getting my master's degree I was thinking about the pay raise. However, as I started looking into what area to get my degree in, I thought about what would make me marketable in the future. What better area than technology? Technology is always changing in our schools and I wanted to be one step ahead of my students. I do not think I will ever be ahead of my student's because they are always using some new thing but doing this will help me stay up to date on what is out there. I chose to go through Valley City because everything is done online and I am able to do things on my own time. I did not want this experience to feel like it was a burden and being able to do things when I can is very convenient.

I was interested in using technology to improve my teaching. One of my goals was to always get my masters but I could never find the opportunity, this program looked interesting and possible. All the teachers at my school encouraged me to do it to advance on the pay scale.

My brother-in-law talked me into taking this program with him.
